2021 DAC REGIONAL JURIED ART EXPOSITION PROSPECTUS
The following are the rules and requirements for entering the 2021 Downtown Artists Co-Op Regional Juried Art Exposition. Please read the prospectus carefully, as several noteworthy changes have been made.

ARTIST AND WORK ELIGIBILITY
Artists 18 years or older residing in Tennessee or Kentucky may enter.  Work must have been completed within the past 3 years.  All work must be original and not from published resource materials or produced in a workshop with the help of an instructor.  No giclees or prints are allowed.

RISK AND LIABILITY
Completion of the entry form constitutes agreement by the entrant there shall be no liability on the part of the Downtown Artists Co-op or any members or sponsors for loss, damage, or destruction of any works.  Insurance of artwork is the sole responsibility of the participating entrant.  By entering this event, you give consent to the DAC to use imagery of the work in promotion of the event and of the Downtown Artists Co-op.

CATEGORIES

Artists may submit a total of 3 works.  Categories are:

  1. Drawing: Graphite, Charcoal, Ink, Pastels, Markers, Pen, crayons, chalk, colored pencil

  2. Oil Media: Oil Paints, Oil Pastels, Water soluble oil paints

  3. Acrylic Media: Acrylic Paints, Acrylic Gouache, Acrylic Ink, Industrial Paints

  4. Water Media: Solid, liquid, or powder watercolor, Gouache, Tempera Paints

  5. Mixed Media/Collage: At least 2 different Media, Collage, Montage, Experimental

  6. 3-D/Fiber Arts: Including but not limited to Pottery, Sculpture, Jewelry, Textiles, Wood


FRAMING AND LIMITATIONS
  • Two-D work: All two-dimensional work must be strongly framed and securely wired, ready for hanging. Saw-tooth hangers will not be accepted.

  • Three-D work: Sculpture and other three-dimensional art may not weigh more than 100 pounds. Top-heavy or unstable work will be disqualified. Fabric must be original design and hand done.


AWARDS
This is an open, non-juried entry exhibition.  All entries are accepted and will be considered for awards.  Cash awards will be given for Best of Show as well as First, and Second Place in each category.  The award amounts will be based on entry fee receipts and sponsorships. Third Place Awards and Honorable Mention ribbons may be given at the discretion of the juror.
CHANGE OF PROCEDURES, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

 
ENTRY PROCEDURES
  • All entries and entry fees will be made online at www.dac.gallery

  • Deadline for entry is 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29. **EXTENDED**

  • Complete the online entry form.

  • Download and print the information tag form. Complete a form for each entry, assuring the entry numbers match the information on the entry form. Cut out the information tag forms and tape them to the back of the matching artwork.

  • Pay entry fee:$20 for the first piece, $15 for the second entry, and $10 for the third ($20, $35, or $45). Fees are non-refundable.

  • Upload a digital JPEG image of each entry. Images will be posted on the DAC website and Facebook page exactly as submitted.

    • Each image must be a minimum of 72 dpi, with a maximum file size of 2 MB.

    • Two-dimensional work should be cropped to show only the artwork, without mat or frame.

    • Three-dimensional work should be photographed in front of a blank, neutral background and cropped tightly to the artwork.

    • Care should be taken to avoid glare on images.

    • Correctly orient the image as viewed, vertically or horizontally.

    • Rename the image file using the following format: Firstname Lastname - Work Title.  Example: John Doe - Fauna Discovered

DELIVERY OF ARTWORK:
  • Art must be delivered to the DAC Gallery, 96 Franklin Street, Clarksville, TN either Friday, July 30, between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. or Saturday, July 31, between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 p.m.

  • Entries will be checked to assure online entry procedure has been completed and entries meet specified requirements. Entries not meeting requirements will be disqualified from entry.

  • Covid safety protocols of social distancing and wearing masks will be observed as needed.


RECEPTION AND ANNOUNCEMENT OF AWARDS
The opening reception for the Exposition will be held at the DAC Gallery at 96 Franklin Street in Clarksville from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5.  Awards will be announced beginning at 6:00 p.m.
DISPLAY OF EXHIBITION
The exhibit will be hung in the gallery from August 5 through August 28.  Additionally, artwork images will be displayed on the DAC website throughout the exhibition.

PICKUP OF ARTWORK
All entries must remain on display for the duration of the exhibit.  At the conclusion of the exhibit, work must be picked up and signed for at the gallery Friday, August 27 between 1:00 and 5:00, or Saturday, August 28 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Social distancing and masks will be observed during the pick-up process as needed.
