Our Story
What began in 2001 as a shared vision among a handful of passionate artists has grown into a thriving collective that includes Full Artist and Emeritus Members.
DAC first opened its doors in July 2002, upstairs at 103 Franklin Street, above what was then The Front Page Deli. Just a few years later, in February 2004, the gallery found its permanent home at 96 Franklin Street in the heart of historic downtown Clarksville—where it continues to inspire, showcase, and support the creative spirit of the region.
Our Mission
The mission of DAC is to organize and sustain an association of artists dedicated to promoting the visual arts through quality exhibitions, educational programs, and community outreach.
Our Objectives
-
Promote appreciation of the visual arts throughout Clarksville, Montgomery County, and the surrounding region through exhibitions, educational programs, and community outreach.
-
Grow and maintain a membership of artists from the Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky region.
-
Build a community of art patrons and supporters who champion the fine arts across the region.
-
Maintain a fine art gallery showcasing member and community work, with proceeds helping sustain the cooperative.
-
Encourage artistic creativity and productivity, both within our membership and throughout the community.
We Hosts Many Events
Each year, DAC hosts a variety of events — art exhibitions, workshops, and community gatherings — that build engagement and appreciation for the arts. Visitors can browse diverse work from our talented member artists, from paintings and woodworking to mixed media and photography.
We invite everyone to explore our gallery, join our events, and support local artists by purchasing original work, helping keep Clarksville's art scene thriving.
Clarksville ArtWalk
A monthly downtown celebration co-sponsored by DAC and the Arts & Heritage Development Council, inviting the community to shop, dine, view art, and enjoy live performances. DAC hosts special exhibitions and activities each First Thursday evening, free and open to the public. Note: In January and July, the ArtWalk moves to the second Thursday due to the New Year's and Independence Day celebrations.
