About the Juror
Kell Black is an artist whose work spans drawing, digital photography, new media, and paper engineering. Now retired, he taught art for over 30 years—first at the Savannah College of Art and Design, then at Austin Peay State University. His work has been exhibited in both Europe and the United States, including two group exhibitions at the Frist Art Museum in Nashville. He lives in Clarksville, Tennessee, with his wife Anne, a cat, and a retired greyhound.

ARTIST AND WORK ELIGIBILITY
All artists 18 years or older residing in Tennessee or Kentucky may enter. All work must have been completed within the past 3 years. All work must be original and not from published resource materials or produced in a workshop with the help of an instructor. No giclees or prints are allowed. All work submitted via the online entry process and delivered to DAC will be eligible for display and awards. Work will be juried for awards based on content, visual elements, creativity, technical execution, presentation, and overall impact.
LIMITATIONS
This is not a juried-for-entry show. All submissions are presumed eligible for inclusion pending on-site examination to assure that submitted work meets requirements as stated in this prospectus. Final acceptance of Art pieces for the exhibition is at the discretion of the DAC. All entrance fees are nonrefundable.
RISK AND LIABILITY
Completion of the entry form constitutes agreement by the entrant that there shall be no liability on the part of the Downtown Artists Co-op or any members or sponsors for loss, damage, or destruction of any works. Insurance of artwork is the sole responsibility of the participating entrant. By entering this event, you give consent to the DAC to use imagery of work exclusively for the promotion of the exhibition and DAC.
CATEGORIES
Artists may submit a total of 3 works. Categories and examples of appropriate mediums are:

Drawing: Graphite, Charcoal, Ink, Pastels, Markers, Pen, crayons, chalk, pencil

Oil Media: Oil Paints, Oil Pastels, Water-soluble oil paints.

Acrylic Media: Acrylic Paints, Acrylic Gouache, Acrylic Ink, Industrial Paints
-
Water Media: Solid, liquid, or powder watercolor, Gouache, Tempera Paints
-
Mixed Media/Collage: At least two different Media, Collage, Montage, Experimental

3-D/Fiber Arts: Including but not limited to Pottery, Sculpture, Jewelry, Textiles, Wood.
FRAMING AND LIMITATIONS

Entries, including frame if applicable, must not exceed 48 inches on the longest side.

All 2-D work entered must be securely framed and back-wired, ready for hanging on our hanging system (similar to a nail). Saw-tooth hangers will not be accepted.

Canvas-wrapped work is acceptable, provided it is properly back-wired.

2-D Art with alternative hanging systems will NOT be accepted. Images on glass, metal, or alternative medium may be entered, provided the work adheres to the framed/wired rules.

3-D work: Sculpture and other three-dimensional art may not weigh more than 99 pounds. Top-heavy or unstable work will be disqualified.

The fabric must be an original design and handcrafted.

Work not securely presented and framed may not be accepted at the discretion of DAC.
AWARDS
Entry into the exhibition is non-juried (all entries are accepted provided they meet the prospectus requirements). All work entered and delivered to DAC Gallery will be displayed and juried for awards by professional juror(s). Cash awards will be given for Best of Show as well as First and Second Place in each category listed above. The cash award amounts will be based on entry fee receipts and sponsorships. Third Place Awards and Honorable Mention ribbons may be given at the discretion of the juror(s) and based on entries per category.
ENTRY PROCEDURES

All entries and entry fees will be made online. ENTRY CLOSED

Deadline for entry is 4 PM, Thursday, July 31st, 2025, without exception.

Complete the online entry form before the deadline.

Pay the entry fee online before the deadline: $30 for one entry, $45 for two entries, and $55 for three entries. Fees are non-refundable.

Upload a digital JPEG image of each entry. Images will be posted on the DAC website and many shared to DAC social media exactly as submitted.

Each image must be at a minimum of 72 dpi and have a maximum file size of 2 MB.

Two-dimensional work (2-D) should be cropped to show only the artwork, without mat or frame.
-
Three-dimensional (3D) work should be photographed against a blank, neutral background and cropped tightly to the artwork.

Care should be taken to avoid glare on images.

Correctly orient the image as viewed, vertically or horizontally.

Rename the image correctly using:

Firstname_Lastname_TitleofPiece.jpg

Example: ‘Jane_Doe_MyTitle.jpg’

Download and print the information tag form. Complete the tag for each entry, ensuring the entry information matches the information on the entry form.

Cut out the information tag and tape it to the back of the matching artwork for delivery to the DAC Gallery on August 2 or 3, 2025.
DELIVERY OF ARTWORK:

Art must be delivered to the DAC Gallery, 96 Franklin Street, Clarksville, TN, either Saturday, August 2, between 9 AM and 5 PM, or Sunday, August 3, between 12 PM and 5 PM.

Entries will be checked to ensure the online entry procedure has been completed and that entries meet specified requirements. Entries not meeting requirements may be disqualified from entry.

RECEPTION AND ANNOUNCEMENT OF AWARDS
As of the time of writing this prospectus, the opening reception is planned for August 7, 2025, from 5-8 PM. Award winners will be announced live at DAC at 6:30 PM and via Facebook Live on DAC social media. Winners will also be posted at the DAC Gallery, on the awards page and on social media, along with the juror’s comments about pieces chosen for Best of Show and First and Second place awards.
DISPLAY OF EXHIBITION
The exhibit will be on display in the DAC Gallery from August 5 to August 29, 2025. Additionally, artwork images will be displayed on the DAC website throughout the exhibition and will remain available through September 2025.
* DAC reserves the right not to display images that are inflammatory, pornographic, or otherwise deemed to be offensive to the public.
ART SALES
DAC strongly encourages all entries to be priced for sale. DAC will receive 30% commission on all sales. Sold work must remain on display at DAC Gallery through the end of the exhibit. Funds from all sales will be delivered to artists after the exhibition or by the end of the first week of September 2025.
PICKUP OF ARTWORK
All entries must remain on display for the duration of the exhibit. After the exhibit, work must be picked up and signed for at the gallery on Friday, August 29, from 12 PM to 5 PM, or Saturday, August 30, from 9 AM to 5 PM. After 30 days, any artwork left at the DAC becomes the property of the Downtown Artists Cooperative.
